How It Works

Five Steps to Improving the Water Quality

 in Your Watershed

Step 1

Determine if you are eligible for our riparian buffer program here. If your property is in Jefferson or Berkeley County, West Virginia, has water that may benefit from a riparian buffer planting (at no cost to you!), and you're interested in helping improve the water quality in your watershed, then you're most likely eligible!

Step 2

Fill out the form below to let us know you're interested. We will be reviewing submissions on a continuous basis.

Step 3

An SWCC partner will get in touch with you to schedule a site visit to your property to inspect the land, analyze the site, and discuss your priorities. Then, a buffer planting plan will be created and shared with you for your review and approval before installation.

Step 4

Our partner, Trout Unlimited, will come to your property and plant the trees. Planting will occur in the Spring or Fall of 2024.

Step 5

We will monitor the trees we planted through Spring 2025 and provide maintenance as needed. Thank you for helping us protect our watershed!
